Given Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra are two of Nickelodeon’s strongest IPs, transcending generations of fans, it was puzzling that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl’s reveal didn’t lead with Aang and Korra on the initial roster. As the game isn’t set to launch until the fall, it’s possible developers are holding that announcement until closer to the release date in order to ramp up hype around the game. Avatar: The Last Airbender ran on Nickelodeon from 2005 – 2008, while The Legend of Korra aired from 2012 – 2014. The former follows Aang, the avatar who had been missing for 100 years. He must learn to master all four elements in order to bring the fire nation to heel and restore balance between the nations. The Legend of Korra is about Aang’s successor, Korra, who has to work to bring unity on the physical and spirit realms alike. The first stage shown off for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl seems to be related to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles . Though it could also just be a basic stage that’s not related to any property. Each character is shown popping up on a rooftop location. In several shots, the characters are also battling across the stage, which means it will likely be playable. Next, is at least one stage based on Spongebob Squarepants . Early in the trailer, a few characters are fighting on a pirate ship. Later, the characters are fighting through the Jelly Fish Fields. It’s tough to say, but this could be a single stage where the ship pops up in the middle of a battle. Either way, they’re definitely straight from the Spongebob cart

Each of the pieces move in the exact same ways that they traditionally do, but there are a few ways that have made things simpler for newcomers. There are markers that appear every time the player selects a piece to show where it can be moved, which stops players from making an illegal move or from moving a piece when they should move their King instead. This basically means that players will spend less time keeping track of rules and more time playing which is always a good thKorra’s braids are usually pretty thin, but if you watch an action sequence from the show you’ll see that her hair thickens in combat. Meanwhile, Aang’s bald head and distinctive ears separate his silhouette from those of pretty much every other Nickelodeon character ever created. As protagonists of some of Nick’s biggest shows, they’re natural shoo-ins for a game – especially a fighting game. Still, it’s refreshing to see some confirmation that we’ve got at least one Avatar stage and two Avatar characters. If they weren’t in All-Star Brawl, there’s no way in hell I’d have considered playing it. Now, though… Well, I might start playing Smash again so I can become an esports pro as a Korra main.

In screenshots, it’s also shown that this level can seemingly turn upside down, giving more credence to the idea that these stages will shift. While many familiar Nick faces have been confirmed for the roster, the trailer hints there are still more that have not yet been announced. Publisher GameMill Entertainment, which also published Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 , hasn’t stated who these other characters will be, but popular Nickelodeon franchises like Fairly Odd Parents were not featured in the trailer, so fans can likely expect Timmy Turner and other characters to join. Confirmed characters so far include fan favorites like Sandy Cheeks, Nigel Thornberry, Powdered Toast Man, and RepThat’s just a stage, though. I mean, it would be weird to have Avatar stages and no Avatar characters, but it’s not necessarily impossible. Fortunately, the actual cover art for All-Star Brawl features at least two silhouettes that are unmistakably supposed to represent Avatar characters.
