The incredibly talented cast (Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller, Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell) had almost no chemistry. Worse still, the story abandoned superhero adventure for a bleak pseudo-science experiment gone wrong. By the time Doctor Doom appeared, the film had already lost all momen
Rourke also told The Guardian that he decided to do half his dialogue in Russian, which he is learning for the film. All and all, sounds pretty badass. And, if Jon Favreau’s Twitter page is any indication, we might be getting an official look at Mickey Rourke as Whiplash in the near future, so be sure to check back with us on the da
“We just launched Marvel: Avengers Alliance on Facebook; which is just the tip of the iceberg. This is the first in a much larger effort to support the Avengers franchise across not just one but multiple video game touch points. The Avengers are bigger than just one game, and we’re planning to allow consumers to enjoy The Avengers regardless of their preference in gameplay style or platform. Look for more announcements in the weeks to co
“In my opinion, the biggest afflictions affecting movie-licensed games is the amount of development time and a strict adherence to retelling the story of the film in the form of a game. The former is easy to understand — less development time means less time to design, produce and polish the game, resulting in a poor or lesser-quality experien
For years, on both Game Rant and Screen Rant, we’ve suffered through the awkward video game-film relationship. The sad reality, as we so often repeat, is that movies based on video games and video game movie tie-ins all suck, with the rare exception here and th
We previously reported in September 2011 that the license for the characters had reverted back to Marvel – hence, no more Sega – and that they were looking for publishing opportunities from other potential partners. With Jefferson hinting at incoming announcements, perhaps they found some
The topics and television properties showcased in the panel were wide-ranging – from live-action ( A.K.A. Jessica Jones , The Hulk ** , __ Cloak and Dagger ** , and __ Mockingbird ** ) to animated ( Ultimate Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 villains|https://spiderman2mix.com/ ** , Hulk: Agents of S.M.A.S.H. ** and The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes ** seasonThere’s a series called The Exiles which involves inter-dimensional travel, which would make it perfect for a game about..well..inter-dimensional travel. This version is called The Spider, and has Peter Parker bonded with Carnage and is a member of Weapon X.This is an interesting version in that the title gives away the entire alternate reality’s premise. It’s Marvel heroes, if they were apes. It’s surprisingly pretty decent, and in this version Spider-Man is now Spider-Monkey. Not surprisingly, he’s a spider monkey.
As a pinball game, Marvel Pinball is as solid as they come. The physics featured in this game are identical to pinball machines you would find at your local arcade. Plus, you get to enter and record your high scores, compare them up against the world, compare them against your friends, and even the vibration feedback makes you feel that much closer to the real thing. You also have all the standards that come with a pinball table, including bumpers, rails, stand-up targets, etc. I especially like the fact that the game has the courtesy to move the Xbox Live notifications to the middle of the screen instead of at the bottom, because, if you know anything about pinball, you know that covering any part of the bottom of the screen could result in the loss of a ball. You lose three balls, and you’re out. Game o
After the sheer brilliance of X2: X-Men United , audiences were primed for an epic conclusion . However, X-Men: The Last Stand delivered confusion and chaos instead. With director Brett Ratner stepping in after Bryan Singer’s departure, the film juggled too many storylines and characters, losing emotional fo
According to those same tweets, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow is also ‘kicking ass”; Marvel president of production Kevin Feige was quoted at a recent industry conference as saying that Black Widow has “two sides” in film. Is that a refernce to her intitial entry as Tony Stark’s assistant, only to be later revealed as super-spy Black Widow? Or is it a reference (as First Showing ‘s Alex Billington speculates ) to a villainous betrayal by the lovely Russian spy? Guess we’ll find out when we see the mo
Whether it’s beloved characters being mishandled, rushed world-building, or clashing studio visions, these disappointments remind that a great trailer doesn’t guarantee a great movie. Each film on this list had massive expectations – fueled by stars, budgets, or legacy – only to leave audiences frustrated or confused. Sometimes, it’s not the villains who ruin a hero’s story, it’s the movie its
